Tom Govaerts

Tom Govaerts is a senior CMC Leader / Senior Director and brings over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining Onco3R, Tom worked at Galapagos, where he served as Drug Substance Leader and Early Development CMC Leader within the CMC organization. Prior to Galapagos, Tom spent 18 years at Janssen Pharmaceutica (Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical). During this time, he progressed from scale‑up laboratory scientist to drug substance technical integrator, leading drug substance projects across multiple stages of the development pipeline. His contributions supported programs in oncology, infectious diseases, and neuroscience. For several years, Tom was also actively involved in the clinical supply chain at J&J, managing external (GMP) drug substance manufacturing activities with CDMOs and CROs worldwide, and contributing to due diligence projects. He has built broad technical expertise across multiple areas, including route scouting/process development, solid‑state/crystallization/early formulation development, oligonucleotide/peptide development. Tom holds a B.Sc. from UHasselt, an M.Sc. from KU Leuven, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from KU Leuven
